Preschool drop-off and pickup: logistics for working parents in Medavakkam

School bus vs own car vs auto

Most Medavakkam preschools don’t run their own buses — the neighbourhoods are tight enough that families drive or auto. School bus only makes sense for children from further out. For distances under 3 km, the daily auto-rickshaw option is about ₹4,000–7,000/month.

Pickup windows that actually work

• 2:00 pm is the standard preschool end-time in Medavakkam.
• 5:30–6:00 pm is the standard extended-daycare pickup.
• Avoid the 5:30–6:30 pm window on Vadakapattu Main Road if driving — it’s the local school bus cluster.

The preschool timing that fits your job matters less than the pickup routine your child can count on. Consistency is what builds the 2-year-old’s trust.
